Stig Severinsen
Born
Stig Severinsen was born in 1973
History
Stig was born in Aalborg, Denmark.
He has a Ph.D in medicine and has represented Denmark nationally in both swimming events and Underwater Rugby.
He has always been fascinated by holding his breath for long periods of time, which eventually brought him to the world of freediving.
He holds four freediving AIDA world records, and in 2010 gained two Guiness World Records.
Stig Severinsen’s Super Powers
Stig is able to hold his breath for longer than any other human on the planet.
When tested on Stan Lee’s Superhumans it appeared he used red blood cells stored in his spleen to help achieve these amazing feats, much like a dolphin does.
What is Stig Severinsen currently doing?
Stig seems to be keeping pretty busy, he was recently on 60 minutes in Australia and travels around promoting his breathing courses, and helping the world breathe more easily.
What can we learn from Stig?
Stig has some great quotes, here is one I really liked, that I think can identify with all of us.
“The more you believe in the power of thought, and the more you listen to your breath, the greater changes you can create in your life.” – Stig Severinsen
Genetic or Learned Super Power?
Stig has spent his life training to do what he does best, holding his breath for what seems like forever.
I think that if you could train as he has (which is doubtful as very few people would have the will power, or perseverance to do so), you could achieve similar feats – he is definitely what we class as a Super Human as no one else has yet managed to beat his record.
